| Dreamin' maggie2002
Dallon answered "that's right, no seat belt." He got into the waiting ambulance with her, telling Brian to wait for the tow trucks, and then he was free for the day. "After all old man, you have been in an accident too." Brian laughed, that was like the boss to mother everything in sight. He smiled, that wee thing he was riding with was quite a package to mother, perhaps this would turn out to be just what the boss needed.
Riding to the hospital, once he was patched up, he went through the young lady's purse. Kathleen Rourke 107 East Central Park New York City, only an address no other information. That would make it difficult, who could they call. Someone must be missing this angel. Just then, her cell telephone rang.
"Hello," answered Dallon, "This is Dallon Wheeling answering for Kathleen, who is calling." A strong feminine voice said "Her mother and just who might you be? Why are you answering my daughters phone anyway?"
Dallon quickly replied "Thank God, you called, Kathleen has been in an accident, she is presently not awake but appears fine, we are on our way to Walter Reed Hospital. Will you meet us there? I can arrange transport if required?"
Virginia Rourke, a methodical woman went through her options quickly and replied,
"I will reach her father and meet you there. Good bye Mr. Wheeling." She was dialing again almost at once and on her way within minutes. It was only on the way to the hospital, while fighting traffic that she began to wonder about the voice on the cell telephone.
When Virginia and Sean Rourke finally reached the hospital; they were ushered to their daughter's suite. A suite, they were told arranged by Mr. Wheeling. They heard her, before they saw her. She was cuddled cozily in bed, gaily laughing at something the tall, dark and very handsome stranger sitting on the foot of her bed had just told her.
"Mom and Dad, Hello there, I am fine it's just a bump," and she pointed to her head. "The Doctor just wants to keep me until tomorrow to be sure of no concussion. Meet Dallon, He's my knight in shining armor."
Dallon blushed, introductions were made and he moved to sit in a chair. Understanding perfectly the look, he had received from Kathleen's father.
"I will leave you to talk, as I have a few calls to make, and then I will check in on you before I go. All right with you Kathleen?" She smiled happily "Please, and I will miss you while your gone." He leaned over and lightly kissed her forehead. The scowl on her dad's forehead told him he would be a subject of discussion.
Sean Rourke knew quite a bit about Dallon Wheeling, he was a man to admire and respect, but this was his daughter they were discussing. Virginia smiled at her daughter, "Do you think I can't see the resemblance, Do you think I don't know what you're thinking?" We will always be grateful for his help. Kathleen we owe him thanks of course but thank you is all you owe him." Kathleen started to cry. .
Just then, Dallon walked in the door with a huge Teddy Bear, and an ice-cream sundae. He stopped dead; had to physically bite his tongue to keep his mouth shut. How dare they make Kathleen cry? Under control at last, he said, "Bad timing?"
Kathleen sniffled and said; "no they are just leaving." Virginia smiled ". We will go find your Doctor, and return dear, after you have said your good-byes to Mr. Wheeling."
"Good-bye's Kathleen? I do so hope this is just a beginning, you will see me again won't you?" He didn't know what he would do if the answer were no. There was silence for the longest time and then she said "I owe you an explanation and it's a long one. Take me home tomorrow please? We will decide then about the future all right?" Dallon was so relieved he didn't care about the future, his smile lit up the room. "That's a deal. "I will be here with breakfast at 8a.m. "
He leaned down and gently took her mouth, kissing it softly but very thoroughly. He left her he hoped, wanting a great deal more of the same thing.
That night, his dream finally had a face and a name. He held her through out the long night. He had often reached for her only to see her dissolve in the morning mist. This night she shared with him her love. They sipped of each other's juices, and shook the heavens with their passion. He didn't even mind when the alarm woke him up. Life for a change was better than dreams.
Brian was waiting with a gourmet breakfast basket, and coffee. He was ready for anything. The limo even contained pillows and a blanket to make the ride to wherever, comfortable for their passenger. Dallon smiled happily, all was right with the world. It wasn't until he got to the hospital, and found that Miss Rourke had checked out the night before with her parents, that the day began to go wrong.
After a miserable week of hide and seek. Dallon finally gave up and went to New York. He would have an answer. It was impossible to get this close to his dream and lose it. He knew of course by now, of the tragic death of Kathleen's husband just a short year ago. He also having seen pictures knew how closely he resembled Michael. Nothing in his life had ever been easy. Why should this be? The only thing that kept him sane was his dreams. Every night she was there, and until morning light, they were together. Trouble was the dreams were no longer enough he needed reality.
He rang her bell and she answered the door.
He thought he was prepared for anything that happened. He wasn't prepared for her to fling her arms around him and kiss him. She was so much sweeter than he expected, so much more passionate. He almost drowned before he could pull back and look at her.
